It was the biggest Super Bowl Tailgate party in town. A tent city encompassing a city block of over 3 acres had been constructed across from the Frank Murphy Hall of Justice and Ford Field. Inside 10,000 invited guests would be treated to entertainment on two different sound stages, an indoor skating rink, multiple bars, a VIP area, and food from 25 area caterers.
Of the 25 area caterers, Catering 2 You of Clinton Township, was given the special privilege of catering to the NFL elite; team owners from across the country, NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue, and special guests including Jim Belushi, Tom Arnold, Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, any many more.
On game day, Catering 2 You served up chef carved beef tenderloin with a merlot portabella demi-glaze, peppered tenderloin on gourmet rolls, cranberry Grand Marnier glazed turkey breast, chef prepared pasta to order, mashed potato martini bar, Antipasto sampler station, a gourmet chocolate display and much more to feed over 850 hungry football fans.
It was a once in a life-time opportunity for Catering 2 You owners Frank Trucano and Lynn Nagorski, and their seasoned and experienced staff.
Lynn comments about being chosen over 125 other caterers who applied for the contract. “We had been working with the Super Bowl Committee for the last 7 months doing smaller projects, letting them get to know us and our quality of food and service.” said Lynn. Frank adds, "Although we have catered many larger events, it was quite exciting to be part of the SBXL experience.”
